Once Upon A Time

The sun, sets
stars, fall
                                but they shine

stone, it crumbles
wood, it rots
glass, it shatters

flowers, wilt
trees, drop
                                but they live

water, it drowns
fire, it burns
air, it chokes
dirt, it suffocates

shadows, disappear
light, it fades
                                but they come back

bone, it breaks
blood, it spills
brains, fail to work
hearts, stop beating

eyes, close...
                                but they open

Tamed

Can she rise
from the ashes
or is the fire
still alive?

Her scars
remind her of
what burned
inside.

 Her demons
fall while angels
call her home.

Smoke lingers,
she's still breathing,

A lost soul,
ready
to be found.

Breathing Only Half The Air

I'm  out of my element,
drifting out to the sea.

The fog has cleared,
my world is spinning.

The tides pulling me in deeper
making it harder to breathe.

Maybe you will save me in the oceans of your dreams
because you belongs to fairy tales that I could never be...

I'll wake up among the dead.

Time Still Exists

My family,
mounds of fading
colors tangled
with the living.

cob webs veil scripted names,

Rain crashes into craters
spilling
 inked names.

Awakening,
earthworms clawing
for the surface.

 the graveyard of knights,

They idle
in a never ending line
 of gray.

Awaiting escape
from gates that hold
them prisoner.

The simplicity
of their names draw
me in.

memories flashing,

holding my breath,

I trace worn out groves.

Silent Strain

The dragon stares back at me
from the mirror.

My mind finally revealing
I'm my own enemy.

The missing piece to my puzzle,

hiding
in the place I don't want to be,

the villain of my tragedy.

This Should Feel Something Like Fire

I know that I'll be leaving soon
so I put my arms around you.

My fingers trail your skin
but eventually nails dig in.

I surrender.

I come back.
